"On" Meeting with guest facilitator Jessica Lackey

Same place, new face!  :)

I will be out of town for the Tuesday, March 19th "on" meeting of the Cherokee Language Group at the Leawood Pioneer Library.  However, Miss  Jessica Lackey has graciously agreed to lead the meeting.  A talented former student of Mr. Girty, she will go through the hand-out presented at last week's meeting in Lawrence, pronouncing the phrases and helping others with their pronunciation.

"Off" Meeting - Healthy Food Potluck and Cherokee Language with Guest Teacher Mr. Andy Girty

http://anguksuar.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/013.jpg

Wa-do (thank you) to  everyone who came to Lawrence on Ta-li-ne-i-ga (Tuesday)!  I was very grateful for the a-li-s-da-yv-di  o-s-da (good food) , good learning and good company!  It was especially good to see so many people car pooling and helping one another out.  They say helping one, another we will all get along.

Just to recap our lesson, we were joined by Mr. Andy Girty, fluent Cherokee speaker and respected elder who currently teaches the language at Haskell Indian Nations University.  My Girty brought some worksheets from his Cherokee I class and instructed us in proper pronunciation and context.  E-la-di-tlv (below) you will find the worksheets, please excuse my little notes :)

Howa,  i-ga-li-i (okay, friends or literally okay, all of us are friends),

Do-da-da-go-hv-i (we all will see on another again)
